Army Chaplain Corps / 1941-1961

One of the most decorated chaplains of WWII, Father Elmer Heindl saw service on Guadalcanal, New Britain, Bougainville, and the Philippines.

His awards include two Distinguished Service Crosses, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and the Legion of Merit.

Returning to his native Rochester, New York, he spent his lifetime leading the congregation of the St. Charles Borromeo Church.
